Lynnchovies

alt

A photo of a plate of anchovies at a restaurant in the Marina Grande of Sorrento was altered to create this image. I originally called it Sorrento Sardines, but Lynn advises me that they were anchovies, not sardines.

Sole Da Mario

alt

The plate from my Da Mario photo, highly tweaked. You can see the plate's polka dots in the circular part of the image. I don't think I've posted the Da Mario photo here in the blog, yet. It's in the Los Altos Library exhibit, photos of which I may post. Or, I may post some of the original images. In either case, I may have mislabeled the Da Mario photo, as the plate may not be from Trattoria Da Mario, but from Ristorante Ciro in Firenze (Florence). I need to do some further investigation...

Rasputin Snowflakes

This is approximately what I was aiming for, before posting the two other "Rasputin" images.

Rasputin's Vortex

alt

A snowflake pattern swirling into the vortex...

(Note the small images of "Rasputin", most easily seen in three of the four corners. This is the same basic image as seen below, in the posting "Rasputin Commands".

Rasputin Commands

alt

The veiled monkey wizard, Rasputin commands all that come before him. Or at least that what I see in this image. The image started with a small part of a photo of a white-crested black Polish rooster, whom I called Rasputin.

Vista Mar Partial

alt

I started with the photo of the houses in Varenna (I like the colors), intending to do an 11-sided image, but when I went to "frame" it, I somehow ended up with this off-center partial image. My elementary school, Vista Mar, was shaped in either a many-sided polygon or a circle, I don't recall exactly which, with classrooms around the edge, thus the name.

Below is the image I was originally trying to create.

Pisa - Straight Lean Straight

This photo was taken approaching the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Buildings bracketing the Tower in this picture serve to emphasize the Tower's lean.

Bandanas 8 in 3

alt

This started as a photograph of bandanas in a stall in a market in Italy. I took a circular portion of the photo, then took a 135 degree part of that (which you can see below). I then made 8 copies, flipping each one so that the borders between every two copies looked like mirror images, rotated each 135 degrees from the last, so that the 8 copies made 3 complete circuits around a circle. I adjusted the hue on each copy 45 degrees from the last, completing the "hue circle" in the 8 copies. I made the copies using the "difference" blend option. A little tweaking was required as the 135 degree rotations leave small seams between the copies.
